Each of the KSE franchises that reside in Pepsi Center had big chances last night. Only one took advantage.

The Denver Nuggets are right back in the hunt for a playoff seeding in the NBA’s Western Conference thanks to an impressive effort last night against the Chicago Bulls. Denver has out shined almost every Eastern Conference opponent this season. They are 13-1 against them.

The win means a lot for Denver. They were not able to reclaim the 8th seed but their record of 27-23 is identical to that of Utah and Houston, currently the 7th and 8th seeds. With soft opponents upcoming Denver should be able to scoot back into the picture.

The Colorado Avalanche, on the other hand, are basically done. They got creamed by San Jose 5-1 last night. The Avalanche basically needed to win out if they were to climb the conference rankings. After last nights debacle they sit in 10th place – well outside the top 8. They would need a miracle to grab a playoff spot and, unless they sign Tim Tebow, few see it happening.

The Avalanche are a big ol’ disappointment.

The Nuggets had been, too. They found something within themselves for the Chicago game. Fans hope they remember where to find it again. They straight outworked the Bulls – who quit like Jay Cutler near the end of the game.
