Denver embraces “Nasty Tebow”

Colin D. | January 9, 2012

We liked him for his gentleness and naive “aw, shucks” persona.  We love him for his nasty side.

The heart of a Champion will not be denied.  We now know that one beats in the chest of Tim Tebow. Yesterday he showed us his nasty side.  He bared his fangs.  His roared and growled and screamed bloody murder.  He flexed and he intimidated.  He was an animal, a beast, a total badass.  And we loved it.

Tebow’s back was against the wall.  People were flapping their gums about Brady Quinn and how he might be brought in.  Media talking heads wouldn’t shut up how the magic had run run it’s course and that “Tebow time” was over.  The eyes of America were not just on him, but they were glaring.  Even right here in Denver fans were giving up hope and selling their tickets to losers wearing black and yellow.

He had everything to prove even though all he has done is prove everything ever since he first laced up a set up cleats.

Afternoon blowhard and noted hater, Les Shapiro,  even went so far as to envoke Tebow’s Wunderlich score, saying that he was the dumbest quarterback in his draft class.

All week Timmy took it in stride.  He answered all the questions with the same sweetness in his voice and glimmer in his eyes and the same “aw, shucks” demeanor that he’s famous for.  Then, on Sunday, he got nasty.  Filthy, mean and vicious.

And we loved it.  And we want more.

Terrible Towels?  Hell no.  Terrible Timmy!  He can get down on one knee and he can thank his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as much as he wants to if we can look forward to many more years of watching him get pissed off.  We like Tim Tebow pissed off.  Let’s hope that this week idiots keep talking their bullshit and that Les Shapiro, Pete Prisco, Stephen A Smith and the rest keep the doubt alive.  We want more nasty.
