Dear Peyton Manning,
It sure is exciting that you are thinking about becoming a Bronco. You would not believe the frenzy you have created here in the Mile High City. People are going bonkers. I can’t blame them. You’re something of a legend, after all.
I’m certainly a fan. When my son was just learning how to talk he used to sit and watch football games with me and I would point to the screen and tell him “look, boy, that’s Peyton Manning”. Quarterbacks have always been my heroes. I was hoping that they would be his, too, but I yell too much during football games. It scares him. He likes baseball better.
Whenever you came to town in a Colts jersey you ripped the Broncos to shreds. We’ve seen how dynamic you are. The NFL wasn’t the same without you last season. The idea that you could be leading our team soon is almost too good to be true. I hope it is true, though.
You’ve kept a lid on your intentions pretty well. Just as soon as the media thinks they have pinned you down something new happens to send speculations spinning off in other directions. I have to hand it to you, – you’re America’s number one man of mystery right now. Will you choose the Titans? Will you choose the Broncos? Have you been talking to the Niners this whole time? Nobody knows but you.
Please come to Denver. It’s a beautiful city. You’ll love it here I promise. We have great Mexican food. Sushi, too. Lower Downtown is hopping (you should see it today) and there’s always plenty of sunshine. Your kids will enjoy all of the things Denver has to offer, too. I promise. We have an Aquarium, a great Children’s Museum, the Museum of Nature and Science, a great zoo. It’s a perfect place – not too big, not too small. It’s close to the mountains.
And the Broncos are a pretty swell team with a proud tradition and a great fan base (if I say so myself). We always sell out the stadium. No blackout worries here – not like in San Diego. With you slingin’ the ball we should be favorites to win the West. That means playoffs, baby. The Broncos can help you get right back to where you want to be.
It would be real nice of you would take Tim Tebow with you. Yes, he has a certain number of insane fans and they can make things uncomfortable sometimes, but he’s a great kid and we kind of like him around here. If you could just see your way clear not to demand he be traded that would be really swell. I’m sure he would gladly help you design some really cool plays that utilize your talents and his in ways that will leave other teams breathless. Then, when you are ready to ride off into the sunset, you can pass Tim the reigns. You can talk all about him when ESPN puts you in charge of their NFL coverage starting in 2016. LOL!
Peyton, it seems like today is a pretty big day as far as your choosing a new city is concerned. Make it ours. We promise it will be great.
