Two more big name free agents remain possible Broncos signings
"The Broncos are contenders right now. As such, Denver is an ideal destination for guys who don’t have much time left to win in the NFL. Two who may want to play here this coming season are former Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw and legendary Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher"

Opening day at Coors Field is always a celebration
"Denver was at its finest on April 5th, 2013. The temperature was an immaculate 70 degrees all afternoon and the clouds kept the intense sunlight at bay. It was a perfect day for a celebration - and that’s what was had."

Reports of the death of the Nuggets are greatly exaggerated
"The Nuggets happen to have the bulk of their depth at forward. It’s a bit over the top to say that the Nuggets won’t miss Gallo, but it’s accurate to point out that the Nuggets are better positioned to proceed without him than they are any of their other top players."

Stokley wants to play but Elway's like "uh, no".
(via Bleacher Report, DenverBroncos.com)
A year ago Brandon Stokley figured his career was over. It wasn't until summer 2012 that he made the decision to join his old pal Peyton on the Broncos roster. Now he wants to return for the 2013 season but there's no room for him now that Denver has acquired Wes Welker.
Stokley told Tyler Everett from DenverBroncos.com, “I still love this game and still have the passion to play. So we’ll see what happens.”
Sadly, if Stokley wants to continue playing in the NFL he will have to do so elsewhere. John Elway basically said as much in a recent interview with KOA's Dave Logan. "He came in and was a tremendous help for us," Elways told Logan. "Great guy. Great leader. It's always hard to have a quality guy like that leave you." He added, "Having been in this league for 16 years, I had so many good friends go out the door year after year after year. You kind of realize it's part of the business."
It's pretty obvious that Elway doesn't intend to make a spot available for the veteran Stokley.
April foolishness: MILLIONAIRE MAMA’S BOY!?
Here's a story that will make you check your calendar. But, check as you will, April 1st was three days ago. This is no joke.
JaVale McGee actually is getting a reality show ... along with his mother, Pam. And Oprah is making it.
Move over fiction, here comes truth.
According to the Oprah Winfrey Network (OLN), "The new OWN series “Millionaire Mama’s Boy” explores the dynamic relationship between former WNBA basketball star Pamela McGee and her 25-year-old son, Denver Nuggets center, JaVale McGee....Ultimately, it’s a show about family, love and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her son; all seven feet of him."
This would sound absolutely horrible if not for the fact that the show will feature JaVale. He's America's most beloved goofball athlete. It will also bring a little extra national attention to the Denver Nuggets, which is nice.
The simple genius of William P. Geivett
(Photo, Denver Post)
"By reaching down to the high school ranks to pluck Walt Weiss as manager and by bringing back Dante Bichette, Vinny Castilla and Trenidad Hubbard, Geivett insured that the Colorado Rockies coaching staff actually cares about the Colorado Rockies. Let’s face it, not many people do."

The firing of Mike Rice had nothing to do with political correctness, everything to do with justice.
"Mike Rice’s misdeeds were indefensible. Still, there are plenty of people trying to defend them. The fact that he was terminated this morning is seen by some as a reaction not to what Mike Rice did, but to the outrage it spawned."

Carmelo Anthony scores 50, proves that he still sucks
"Carmelo’s performance proved that he still sucks. Contrary to media ramblings about his newfound maturity as an established all-pro player, it demonstrated once again that Carmelo Anthony is all about Carmelo Anthony. "

104.3 the Fan recruits megastud Ben Maller to fill in for Big Al and Dmac
Score one for 104.3 the Fan.
The local sports talk radio station is giving its popular drive time hosts, Big Al and Dmac a few days off. In their stead, Program Director Nate Lundy brought in none other than Ben Maller, one of the original sports bloggers and a national radio talent.
It's a little like getting Albert Einstein as a substitute teacher.
Maller, who famously dropped 200 pounds in just over a year, is based out of LA. He's one of America's top sports radio personalities. He's nationally syndicated on Fox Sports Radio and has been a frequent contributor on NBC Sports Network. His resume is beyond impressive. It's mind boggling.
For the next three days he's Denver's own. He will be on air from 3-6 PM today, tomorrow and Thursday. His recruiter, Nate Lundy told me "Ben's great. I've known him a long time and he's as comfortable on the national stage as he is talking local. Versatile guy. Glad to have him at the Fan, even if it is only for a few of days."
Nugs should be able to hold the 3rd seed without Ty
"If the Nuggets were to fall to the fourth seed and Memphis were to rise to the third, Denver would catch the Clippers in the first round. That’s a far less desirable match up for the Nuggets – obviously."

I never really liked sports until I had a religious conversion when the Broncos lost to the 49ers in that one Super Bowl. Now I'm obsessed with all aspects of the Denver pro sports world. Oh yeah, I hate college football. It's crap. Talk to me on twitter @johnreidydenverRecent items
