South Stands Denver Fancast
Fancast vet Ryan Boulding of the Avs Guild returns for an eye opening show about the Avs, God and ICP.
John comes out of the gates hot with a rant against the faux Christians like Demaryius Thomas and the hypocrites who support him solely because he quotes the bible.
We talk Tebow naturally and Colin's piece on his speaking fees. Jesus and Ted Haggard share equal time.
Then we get into some deep Avs talk with our host...it's nice to finally have something to talk about.
A special nod to Mile High Sports "We Remember" spots, an epic Juggalo or Raider fan and Ryan gives us some Avs predictions. Check out Ryan's excellent hockey writing at Mile High Sports, the Avalanche Guild or on twitter by seeking out @AvsGuildRyan.
The weather is affecting the boys' mood because they start out a little dark with talk of Perrish Cox and a fight about Tim Tebow's offseason shenanigans. John asks Colin to help him choose which 5280 Shirt Shop shirt to take home. It's a Sofie's Choice.
But then the mood lightens and they hit their stride as Colin speaks glowingly about CSU and John talks about the last time he was in Moby Arena.
Colin discusses losing followers and we spiral off into a race discussion that may offend a lot of white people. And brown.
Then Colin reads a list of rejected Ben and Jerry's flavors that is hilarious, offensive, tasteless and delicious all at once.
A Denver diner and dive quiz that stumps most of those in the room and a pledge to cheer up and get positive. We'll see if it happens.
Famed CBS 4 sportscaster and Denver native, Vic Lombardi (@VicLombardi) joins the boys for a fantastic podcast session where we talk all kinds of sports, Mardi Gras, the East Coast Bias and growing up Italian in Denver.
The Jim Tracy extension is discussed, as is Tebow and the "greatest month in Denver sports history" according to Vic.
We also talk a little Elway, get a Tweep of the Week in and get to the bottom of Vic and his broadcasting partner Gary Miller's radio future.
Plus, we ask Vic if he was offended that Colin referred to him as Les Shapiro.
Vic is a super good sport for coming on and proved once again why he's one of the most beloved sports media guys in Denver.
Our own Colin Daniels called into Denver Sports Nation on Blog Talk Radio last night and ended up riding it out for an hour and a half. Brandon Spano from Mile High Sports also called in. Big fun. Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche, Kroenke, Lin, JR Smith - you name it, the fellows touched on it. Listen, won't you.
It's nothing but a love fest as the crew of Denver's #2 podcast, the Denver Diatribe (@denverdiatribe) come down to the concrete bunker to dish on sports, cancer wives and the Grammys.
Colin is immediately assaulted as John revisits his time on the Denver Diatribe podcast when he mistook Vic Lombardi for Les Shapiro.
We talk the intellectual side of sports and who's worse: the smartypants who doesn't like sports? Or the sportypants who doesn't like smartypants things?
Did Elway pull a Gingrich? Are you enjoying Carmelo's slide into obscurity? Jason Whitlock and racism is discussed as is Matt Duchene's love of bad country music.
Hot grammy talk and a funny (disturbing) Tweep of the week.
Check out Denver Diatribe's podcast, the website (http://www.denverdiatribe.com/) and their "Killing the Cowtown" event at the Denver Film Center, February 29th. Thanks to Josh and Ron for being good "sports" and helping us deliver a great show.
The ball of fire and super cool, Brandon Spano (@BrandonSpano) from Mile High Sports joins the show and let me tell you, if you didn't have your yelling and arguing quota for the week, you'll have it after listening to this week's show.
Spano is swept away by the majesty of the Super Bowl halftime show and John explains why MIA was a bad choice for American audiences.
The James Merilatt/Tim Tebow controversy is discussed and Spano shuts Colin down. Then a controversial Les Shapiro take is explored.
Tom Helmer being let go from Root is discussed, a long, drunken Tweep of the Week starring D-Mac and we round it out with some Nuggets talk and more yelling about Josh Hamilton.
Check out the Brandon Spano show on FM 93.7 weeknights from 8-10 on Mile High Sports and thanks to him for bailing on his show to come to the concrete bunker.
Dear lord, where to start? A hilarious show featuring comedian, Rockies fan, and Denver native son Adam Cayton-Holland (@CaytonHolland) who, after coming down last week to find the power out, came back and knocked out one of our best shows.
We learn that Colin didn't get tear-gassed during any of the two Broncos Super Bowl victories like a true fan.
We also learn that John and Adam share the love of the Club Level at Coors Field, while Colin has refused all invitations to said Club Level.
We play an awesome Denver commercial trivia game where Adam taps an imaginary button, a deep thinking Raider or Juggalo and we talk about wailing away at yourself to Madonna (circa 1986).
Filmaker and Vic and Gary cohort, Zach Sheely (@ZSheely) joins us to talk about a glorious Broncos season and what it's like in Vic's basement.
John takes way too long to pitch his TV ideas to Zach and after Colin laments the passing of Vic and Gary's radio show, producer Scott drops in a song that gets the room misty eyed.
A fantastic Raider or Juggalo gets played and Colin does a Facebook reading that may or may not get him in some trouble.
Mutombo waving his "Gold Finger" is discussed and Joey Applebutter does this week's Tweep of the week and it makes us realize the author is way gayer than he wants anyone to know.
Check out Zach on twitter or Zoonaduproductions.com and youtube.com.
Colin and John look like homeless bums next to the lovely and super cool Robin Carlin (@carlinrobin) as she sits in for the first time on the podcast.
We talk all kinds of Broncos, sexism in sports, Snow Angels, and a slam dunk Tweep of the Week. Literally and figuratively.
Colin's huge Vic Lombardi gaffe on the Denver Diatribe podcast is covered at length.
Then we get in to some Tebow. I know, he doesn't get enough coverage. Then Colin makes another huge gaffe when identifying Broncos players. It's pretty awesome.
And Colin's three week romance with college football comes to an end. We give Broncos predictions and sing "The Dawning of the Age of Demaryius".
Thanks to Robin who was awesome and can be found in and around Mile High Sports, Altitude and hopefully more Taco Bell commercials.
An epic show where the Denver Post's Benjamin Hochman (@nuggetsnews) and the Ticket's Nate Kreckman (@natekreckman) join us for the second time, the first time together.
We talk Broncos and the upcoming playoff game, get into some Nuggets talk but really the towering achievement of this week's show is the cutthroat TV trivia game John plays with the guests. It's a knock down, drag out battle and a new champ is crowned. Kreckman pulls a "Norv".
Tweep of the Week where DJ Williams wonders if there's 3D porn, and a plethora of laughs and shenanigans. Hochman and Kreckman are always super cool to come hang with us so follow both of these gracious chaps on twitter and their various media adventures please.
