News has broken at various outlets today that a Broncos fan who attended the Monday night game at Qualcomm Stadium was decked, knocked unconscious and hospitalized while finding his seat at Qualcomm Stadium.

According to Westword's Michael Roberts, the 22 year-old fan is named Eric. He's from nearby Chula Vista, Ca. He told Fox 5 in San Diego "Someone spilled their beer on me and the next thing I noticed, I woke up in a hospital the next day."

His assailant apparently sucker punched Eric from behind.

When the NFL placed a new emphasis on calling false starts on quarterbacks before the 2012 season began, the media called it "the Manning Rule".

Basically, it was decided that certain signal callers, Manning chief among them, were getting a little too fancy pre-snap, making various motions that could cause a defense to jump off side. The league instructed its officials to be extra vigilant in penalizing such errant behaviors as hand motions, gyrations, leg lifts, head bobs and the like.

The rule reads like this: "Any quick movement by a single offensive player which simulates the start of the snap is a false start."

In last nights game against the Chargers it was Philip Rivers, not Peyton Manning who got tripped up by "the Manning Rule". He was called for false starts twice after having never been called for one before - not once - in his entire career.

So, it looks like Rivers will have yet another adjustment to make in his game in addition to the "not throwing four interceptions" one.

Peyton Manning has yet to be flagged under the Peyton Manning rule.

For just one moment let's stop celebrating the Broncos' unlikely come-from-behind 35-24 win on Monday Night Football.

It's important that we also take time to reflect on Philip Rivers and his dreadful 4-interception meltdown. Why? Becuase he's a tool and we hate his sneering face. Chances are Chargers fans have seen enough of it, too - along with Norv Turner's pocked neck.

San Diego Union Tribute fan boy columnist, Kevin Acee penned a column that ran in his paper yesterday boasting about the Chargers' dominance over Peyton Manning over the years.

It was written in reaction to Manning's comments during a requisite conference call with the SD media.

"I’m used to ignoring NFL types trying to insult my intelligence. But Manning is offensive.", Acee wrote.

His beef? That Manning is willing to blow off his history against the Chargers because he was with the Colts when those games were played. He's a Bronco now, and the Chargers are now a division rival. Things have changed.

"I guess he wasn’t trying in those non-division games against the Chargers.", Acee responds.

The column is fact-filled, yet bitter and whiny from the headline ("Peyton Manning doesn't give Bolts respect") down. Acee comes off as writer from a fan blog more than he does a beat writer for a major newspaper. I certainly can't recall Denver's Lindsay Jones ever publishing anything as biased. Of course, that's one reason that Jones was hired by USA Today and Acee wasn't.

He has a point. The Chargers definitely had the Colts' number. However, Acee fails to recognize that the Broncos will match up to the Chargers differently. Peyton Manning is only one piece of the puzzle for Denver just as he was in Indianapolis. The fact that San Diego has a 5-1 record against Manning the Colt since 2005 (they've picked him 15 times) simply does not translate to an advantage against Peyton the Bronco.

"We all convinced ourselves Manning is the man for the job. But has he regretted his decision to come to Denver as the window on his career rapidly starts to shut? Let’s take a look."
