Besides having obnoxious pop-ups, Bleacher Report often has annoying articles. One posted today raised my ire. It's titled "NFL Free Agency: 5 moves sure to backfire". Among the moves the writer feels with fail ... Manning to the Broncos.
The piece was penned (probably for free) by "featured columnist" Amelia Ahlgren. Combing back through her archive, I discovered that Ahlgren writes primarily about College Basketball. Perhaps it would be best of she stuck to that.
Her NFL article comes off as forced and makes her sound like she has no idea what she's talking about - and before you accuse me of being sexist - I would feel the same way if the author were a man.
Ahlgren asserts that New England made a mistake by signing for Colts wide-out Anthony Gonzolez; that the Seahawks shouldn't have pursued Quarterback Matt Flynn; the the Bears screwed up by snagging Michael Bush and that Peyton Manning will prove to be a disaster for the Broncos. She claims that "All signs seem to point to Manning missing at least a few games this season." and that "John Elway will be reeling after this free agency move plays out."
Apparently, in addition to being a full-time paralegal, Ahlgren is a neck surgeon and a physical therapist. Impressive.
This article is typical for Bleacher Report in that it basically tries to catch the reader's eye with a bold headline then proceeds to disappoint with shaky content. In the case of this specific article, the blogger turned to speculation and conjecture to make a point she cannot substantiate with facts.
