Here we go again, you guys. It’s time for us to turn in our weekly picks in our annual NFL pickoff VS the spread. Reidy surged ahead last week after Colin collapsed under the pressure of trying to protect his one game lead. Reidy now leads the season series 47-49-5 to 45-51-5 after picking up 3 games over Colin in week 7. Here’s how our pickers see it all going down in week 8.
Indianapolis @ Tennessee (-8.5)
It’s a shame that Indy’s coach (nobody knows his name) will not be around to see the Colts pick Andrew Luck. Allowing the Saints to hang 62 points on his team was all she wrote for that guy. The Titans sucked last week, too. They blew their chance to take charge in the AFC South by completely choking at home against the Texans. Only one of these teams can right the ship in week 8.
Colin’s pick: Tennessee -8.5
Reidy's pick: Tennessee -8.5
Jacksonville @ Houston (-9.5)
The Jaguars shocked the Ravens on Monday night despite Maurice Jones-Drew’s four fumbles and despite the fact that they did not score a single touchdown. Nobody saw that coming. This week the Jags travel to Houston to take on the division leading Texans who might have their top weapon, Andre Johnson, back in the mix.
Colin’s pick: Jacksonville +9.5
Reidy's pick: Jackoffsonville +9.5
Minnesota @ Carolina (-3.5)
It’s a battle of mobile rookies as Christian Ponder and his Vikes travel to Carolina to meet Cam Newton and the Panthers. Last week the Vikes gave the Packers a scare while the Panthers strolled to their second win. This game between two pretty evenly matched teams could be one of the better tilts on the schedule.
Colin’s pick: Carolina -3.5
Reidy's pick: Carolina -3.5
St. Louis VS New Orleans (-13.5)
This week the woeful Rams host a Saints team fresh off a 62 point smackdown of the Colts. Will the Rammies continue to lead the pack in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes or will they show a little pride? It’s hard to say. Congrats on getting out of Denver, Brandon Lloyd, enjoy your success.
Colin’s pick: New Orleans -13.5
Reidy's pick: New Orleans -13.5
Arizona @ Baltimore (-12.5)
The Ravens look to get back on track after an embarrassing Monday Night performance versus the Jagwads as they host Kevin Kolb and the shitty, shitty Cardinals.
Colin’s pick: Arizona +12.5
Reidy's pick: Baltimore -12.5
Miami @ NY Giants (-9.5)
New York is one of many heavy home favorites with the lowly Miami Dolphins coming to town. The Fish are still trying to shake images of Tebow down on one knee from their collective consciences. Can Eli and the boys cover the 9.5?
Colin’s pick: NY Giants -9.5
Reidy's pick: NY Giants -9.5
Washington @ Buffalo (Toronto) (-6)
The Bills are 6 point favorites in their home away from home, Toronto Canada. The Bills are coming off their bye week to challenge John Beck and the Washington Redskins in a game nobody could give two shits about.
Colin’s pick: Buffalo -6
Reidy's pick: Buffalo -6
Denver VS Detroit (-3)
Touchdown Timmy comes home to the friendly confines of Mile High to face Matty Stafford and the Lions. Can he play well for 4 quarters? Only time will tell. In the meanwhile, Champ Bailey will have his hands full trying to cover the 9 foot-tall Calvin “Megatron” Johnson.
Colin’s pick: Detroit -3
Reidy's pick: Detroit -3
Pittsburgh VS New England (-3)
The Steelers are home underdogs to the Pats, who are coming off their bye. This can’t sit well with Big Ben and company. It’s the game of the week as two Superbowl hopefuls collide in week 8.
Colin’s pick: Pittsburgh +3
Reidy's pick: New England -3
Cleveland @ San Francisco (-8.5)
The Niners are among the bright spots in the NFL season and this week they return from their bye week to host the Cleveland Browns who are not quite shitty enough to be among the “suck for Luck” teams.
Colin’s pick: San Francisco -8.5
Reidy's pick: San Francisco -8.5
Seattle VS Cincinnati (-3)
The Bengals are road favorites against the Seahawks. Wow.
Colin’s pick: Seattle +3
Reidy's pick: Cincinnati -3
Dallas @ Philadelphia (-3.5)
In the NFC game of the week, Mike Vick and the Eagles host Tomo Romo and the Cowboys. It’s an NFC eastern division showdown on a Sunday Night. Get your popcorn ready, you guys.
Colin’s pick: Dallas +3.5
Reidy's pick: Dallas +3.5
Kansas City VS San Diego (-4)
These two AFC West teams have been heading in opposite directions. The Chiefs, winners of two straight, look to get right back into the divisional mix with a win over the Super Chokers at Arrowhead.
Colin’s pick: Kansas City +4
