According to reports from NFL Network and NBC Sports, Wade Philips might be headed to Houston. Wade would become the Texans' Defensive Coordinator under Gary Kubiac. It's a match made in football heaven - one I have been hoping might have been made here in Denver.
Many of Houston's fans have had it with Kubiac. There is even a "Fire Gary Kubiac" rally being planned for this coming Sunday in the wake of the Texans' loss to Tim Tebow and the Broncos. I know a lot of Denver fans have been hopeful that Kubes will get canned so that he can be freed up to return to Denver.
The fact of the matter is, though, that the Texans' offense has been very good. The problem the team has consistantly had is on the defensive side of the ball. The promise of Wade Philips coming to town could make the fans there change their minds about Kubiac.
Now that Kubiac and Philips are being mentioned in the same breath, I have my fingers crossed that Houston will decide to go in a new direction. The idea of Elway, Kubiac and Wade getting the band back together is pretty exciting.
