The garage is hot, but John manages to rail on the Dark Knight movies for quite awhile before taking a break to hear some newish tunes with Aaron X.

The Dark Knight bashing continues with Mega C, but a little Hobbitt love rears its head. Not as gross as you think.

Some commercials are broken down and ICP gets mentioned once! Enjoy the Autopsy.

I never really liked sports until I had a religious conversion when the Broncos lost to the 49ers in that one Super Bowl. Now I'm obsessed with all aspects of the Denver pro sports world. Oh yeah, I hate college football. It's crap. Talk to me on twitter @johnreidydenver

fair enough on the comic book front. but you really have to read the original Dark Knight to appreciate where our current idea of Batman and Joker came from. it's brilliant really. and his relationship with Superman in it would be great in a film. comic books, not for everyone i guess.

Ok, meandering is a fair criticism especially towards the end of the movie. There was enough stuff I loved about the film that it didn't really bother me. I think I forgive some of the ending's clumsiness because the second movie of a trilogy is always going to be a little messy story-wise and Ledger's death probably ruined there planned plotlines for the third movie.

I think I see the problem here. I don't really like comic books. I have no connection to Frank Miller's Dark Knight. I don't particularly like comic book style action that you get from movies like the Avengers movies, 300, Sin City (though, I did like Sin City). The Dark Knight tries to be a lot more grounded in reality than those movies so maybe it's not so surprising that I would enjoy that one the most.

I didn't say I wanted it to be like a comic book because there's no comic book based on that movie as far as I know. What I want is a movie adapted from the original Frank Miller Dark Knight that is the sole reason these movies exist. Go get a copy of it, it's an incredible piece of work.

Nolan's movies are kind of meandering messes. I love the tone of the films, I just don't think they're very well made. The ending is absurdly long and tacked on. Inception was the same way: great idea, looks great, but poorly executed.

Now I loved the Avengers. It's exactly what a summer blockbuster should be and once was. I do appreciate the comment and thanks for giving it a listen.

I'm not really clear on your reasons for not liking the latest Batman trilogy. You mentioned that you didn't like the style and wished it was like the comic but that's not an especially compelling reason not to like something. That's just a preference and doesn't speak to the quality of the movie.

The Dark Knight was a great movie and there's more to it then just a great Heath Ledger performance. The film serves as a commentary on post-911 America. How we, as a society, deal with fear and senseless violence. Unfortunately, it's a subject that never really gets old. A lot of the metaphors that are used are a bit too neat (the boat scene in particular) but I think overall it's an excellent allegory for the fear and overreaction of post-911 America.

FWIW, I got nothing from Batman Begins. It was entertaining but by no means a great movie.

Now if you want to talk shitty movies how about we turn our ire to the Avengers flicks.
