Poor kid.
Jamie Moyer can't catch a break. The 49 year old still wants to pitch - but only in the big leagues - and no big league team wants to let him.
He was granted his release by the Orioles yesterday after working with their AAA affiliate and determining that they weren't going to call him up anytime soon.
So now Moyer is a free agent, adrift on a sea of oldness. It's certainly likely that an announcement of his retirement will come soon - but we thought that when he left Colorado and the old man just keeps trying.
If there's one thing Rockies fans can gain from observing Moyer from the time he joined Colorado until now it's an admiration for his sticktoitiveness. He doesn't have any quit in him. He simply isn't finished playing baseball.
Sadly, baseball may be done with Moyer.
