Did you think that Brandon Stokely was given a chance to join the Broncos in camp only because he helped the team court Peyton Manning?
We did, too.
But, according to Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post, Stokely is not fooling around. The 36 year-old wide out has emerged as the Broncos' top candidate to play the role of slot reciever in 2012.
Jones published an article for the Post yesterday in which she reveals that he is healthly and ready to make a real impact for the team. Jones' says "Brandon Stokley deserves some credit for helping the Broncos land quarterback Peyton Manning. But the reverse also is true."
Working out with Manning is what caused Stokely to realize that he could still play in the NFL.
Coaches and team mates raved about Stokely in their interviews with Jones. Coach John Fox told her "It's the Brandon Stokley I've seen on tape. He's healthy, and he's got a good skill set to play in this league, and he's proven that a lot of different places"
