The criminal trial of former Denver Bronco (now 'Niner), Perrish Cox, on charges of rape, ended with his being exhonerated. The prosecution failed to make it's case but, in the court of public opinion, Perrish Cox is a rapist.
Demaryius Thomas is just an asshole.
He left his incapaciated date in vulnerable position in the home of a big, horny Perrish Cox who had already joked that in her unconscious state she appeared "ready" (for sex). Common wisdom says that the girl, Camille Washington, was drugged before she arrived at Cox's place. She left there pregnant with his baby.
Whatever happened, Washington's quest for justice - in some form - has not ended.
The Associated Press is reporting that she has filed lawsuits against both players.
"The lawsuit claims battery, sexual assault and battery, aiding and abetting tortious conduct, conspiracy, outrageous conduct, and negligence, which include failing to ensure the woman's safety."
Naturally, the standard of proof in a civil suit is "by the preponderance of the evidence" rather than "beyond a reasonable doubt".
Perrish Cox has long left Denver, but Thomas remains a Bronco and is preparing for a superstar season playing with future Hall-of-Fame quarterback, Peyton Manning. Thomas had better shine this year. Win or lose, this lawsuit is going to be expensive. And, if he loses, it will cost him millions.
I guess treating a woman like a cheap whore isn't always cheap.
