Your Denver Broncos have been hard at work signing their free agents and their draft picks and renegotiating deals with fellows like Ty Warren but they are yet to stitch together a contract with their heralded kicker, Matt Prater.
Prater, who we must remind our readers, crashed his car in the parking lot of a La Quinta Inn last year. Drunk and disappointed that he and his stripper friend had not been able to secure a room in which to get it on, Prater, who had spent the evening across the street at Shotgun Willie's, was in the process of abandoning his whore when he banged his vehicle into someone else's. The cops came and Prater was arrested, creating delicious fodder for snarky Denver Sports Blogs. The stripper who had accompanied him was less amused.
Regardless of his transgressions, Prater has one of the best legs in all of football and is an assett to a Denver Broncos club which, due to it's altitude, tends to rely on place kickers more than most squads.
The Broncos are determined to make sure Prater remains their kicker for years to come.
Rumors are circulating that Denver is drafting a 5-year deal for him. One can assume that the deal will make Matt Prater one the highest paid kickers in the NFL - which he deserves to be - assuming he can keep his nose clean.
