Enough is enough.
The Rockies were just swept at home by the Mariners - one of the mist inept teams in all of baseball - and it's time for Colorado fans to make a stand.
We have to boycott Coors Field.
Season ticket holders have already spent their money so there's not much sense in their not attending the games they paid for - but those of us who purchase single game tickets and promotional packages need to stop right now.
Let the Monforts keep their warn beer. Let the hot dogs rot and the Dippin' Dots melt. Let the seats stay empty.
Otherwise nothing will ever change.
There is no way that a great Sports City like Denver, Colorado should be willing to settle for the pathetic baseball we have sat through this season. We deserve better. Handshake deals and consistant refusals to improve on the part of Rockies management can no longer be stood for.
The only power we have is the power to decide not to bring our dollars to the ball park.
Rockies fans have been taken for granted.
The Rockies model is much like that of the Cubs - go ahead and suck ... people will still show up to the ball park just because that's what they enjoy doing. We don't need to win to make money. That may work for Chicago but it's not going to pass muster in Denver any more.
People need to stay away from the ball park in droves until the Rockies show us that they are tired of losing, too. Jim Tracy needs to be fired immediately. So does Dan O'Dowd and Bob Apodaca. The Monforts need to clean house.
This "patient organization" has counted on the patience of their loyal fans for too long now. It's wearing thin. Rockies fans have to demand change. There's only one way to do that. It's avoiding the games.
It's sad. Nobody wants to do it. Summer just isn't summer without trips to Coors Field. But the time has come to make the sacrifice.
A day at Coors Field will cost the average family of four about $150 after concessions. 5,000 families staying home will cost the Rockies $750,000 in revenue. Across a 6 game home stand those 5,000 families can cost the Rockies 4.5 Million by not attending.
Once the organization suffers through enough home stands with enough fans abstaining they will beging to get the message.
Boycott Coors Field.
