Live from New York ... it's Sports Radio in Denver.
The Hill and Schlereth show is coming to ESPN 102.3 FM. Broadcast from the City that never sleeps, Hill and Schlereth made their national debut in January. They're Denver debut has now been announced by 102.3 FM. It's tonight.
The show follows ESPN's "Odd Couple" formula, much like Mike and Mike in the morning. It pairs one massive ex-jock with one non-descript anchor, according to Awful Announcing who, in their initial review of the show said ESPN: "decided to go to an overused formula once again." The site also ranted: "ever since Dan Patrick and Tony Kornheiser have moved on, ESPN Radio just seems to be willing to float in mediocrity on a national level."
The show, which runs for three hours in other markets, will consume just two in Denver. It will be on weekdays from 6-8 PM Mountain.
Meanwhile, listeners may also choose from Renaud "the Renknowitall" Notaro, one of the most knowledgeable and respected pros on Denver radio on Mile High Sports in the same time slot - or wander over to the Fan 104.3 and catch Sandy Clough, who has forgotten more about Denver teams that Mark Schlereth will ever know.
I have to admit. I am a huge Mark Schlereth fan. I can't find much fault with the guy. He's a good, solid Denver guy who sells awesome green chile, has a couple gorgeous and talented daughters and son who pitches in the Majors. He's a hero of mine, frankly. But I am no fan of sydicated radio - especially not when there are so many very talented jocks right here in our market.
