There's been a mysterious absence in the Root Sports studios.
Joel Klatt, who was recently hired to replace the enormously popular Tom Helmer on camera before and after Rockies games, has not been at Coors Field for either of the past two.
Sideline / Dugout reporter Jenny Cavnar has worked in Klatt's stead. She's done a fabulous job, too.
So where in the heck has Klatt been? What happened?
It's not as if the Rockies are on the road. They have had eight straight at home with one more slotted for this evening. Klatt would not even have had to travel to cover either of the past two games - therefore schedule conflicts are not the likely reason for his absence.
Klatt has a morning radio show (with Mike Evans on the Fan). Is it possible that 6:40pm starts cause conflict - that he has sat out these games becuase he wants to be fresh for the radio? Wouldn't Klatt have thought that through before taking the job at Root?
Something is afoot.
Nobody takes two days off from a brand new job after two weeks of work.
It will be interesting to see if Klatt is in the Root studio for tonight's 6:40pm start with the Padres. If he's not it will be the third straight broadcast that he has not been a part of.
