When I heard the Rox had signed a guy from the Minnesota Twins I called my old pal bob in Minneapolis to find out what we were getting.
Bob told me that "Cuddy" would be sorely missed - that he was a fan favorite and a clubhouse leader. That put some pep in my step. any time folks in another city are sad to see a player go to Colorado I consider it to be a good sign.
Well, after ten years in the Land of 1,0000 Lakes, Cuddyer is catching on here in Colorado.
He has batted in eight runs already in only twelve games. Cuddyer is the kind of clutch hitter the Rox have desperately needed. He is at the plate what Tulo has not been for the Rockies.
He also has an infectious smile and just enough grey hair to be relatable. He's easily becoming a fan favorite.
Cuddyer, who wears #3 honor Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew, is said to have a great respect the game of baseball and bring a lot to a team in terms of chemistry. He's a player's player. Fans can already see Cuddyer blending in very naturally with the Rockies.
The team has taken two straight series, thanks in large part to Cuddyer's bat. If the Rockies keep winning this way Cuddyer could become a player we remember long after his three-year deal expires.
