The Denver Broncos are reportedly pursuing a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for cornerback Asante Samuel. ESPN's Adam Schefter claims that the two teams have been in talks since the Broncos first inked Peyton Manning.
The Broncos know that they have a small window of time in which to get to the Super Bowl with their shiny new QB.
Mike Klis of the Denver Post wrote about the Broncos interest in Samuel yesterday. 'Seems the Eagles just can't afford him anymore. Dream teams don't come cheap.
Samuel has been an interception machine his entire career. He's got 45 picks to his name.
The Broncos already have Champ Bailey AND they picked up former Saint, Tracy Porter in free-agency. They're pretty stacked at cornerback. Apparently the team is interested in having an embarrassment of riches at the position. Bailey, Porter and Samuel would be the deadliest trio of ball hawks in the NFL.
Whether or not they can get a deal done will depend on what the Broncos will be willing to give the Eagles in draft compensation.
